SO WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS??? Some magic potions in a bottle? …
Essential oils are therapeutic plant extracts obtained from different parts of the plant. For example; flowers (jasmine), leaves (eucalyptus), fruit (lemon), wood (sandalwood), bark (cinnamon) or roots (vetiver).
Essential oils used in aromatherapy today are the result of the collective knowledge gained over many years from many countries. They have played a significant role in ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and China.
Essential oils are highly concentrated. Most of them are at least 50 times more potent than the raw herbs, which they are extracted from. This shows their healing potential and at the same time the need to use them properly.
Essential oils are versatile and also suitable in treating many common conditions. Each essential oil has different therapeutic properties. For example, anti-inflammatory (German chamomile, everlasting), analgesic (black pepper, eucalyptus), sedative (lavender, sweet marjoram), stimulant (rosemary, basil).
Essential oils are precious to me. I treat them with respect and I have my own rules on how to handle them…with care. I have my favourites of course, but some of the oils just pop out in front of me when most needed, even when they have been in a dark corner for sometime.
I wish happy aromatherapy blending to everyone. And if you don?t feel like oil blending yourself, feel free to talk to me
